Dr Kunal Kothari

GP Partner, Bute House Medical Centre, Luton and Training Programme Director East of England Deanery

Kunal completed his MBBS in 2001 from Gujarat, India. He is currently a GP Partner at Bute House Medical Centre - an urban teaching practice in Luton for the last 11 years. He is the Diabetes and Finance lead at the practice. He has a particular interest in lifestyle medicine and metabolic disorders. He is also the deputy director for Hatters Health network - one of the PCNs in Luton. He led the PCN to get approval as a learning organisation.

He is also a GP appraiser and GP Trainer. He went on to become Training Programme Director for Luton GPVTS in 2017 and currently is an area TPD for Bedfordshire region.

He has been in a clinical support role for international medical graduate training for the last 2 years with East of England deanery primary school and has created a soft-skills support package for international medical graduates with his colleagues to help reduce differential attainment.

Professor Sujesh Bansal

Professor Sujesh Bansal is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Clinical Professor, MAHSC.

He started training in anaesthesia in 1997 and was awarded MD in Anaesthesiology following a research in high-risk obstetric anaesthesia. He has a specialist clinical interest in anaesthesia for oncology, transplant and inpatient pain management.

He has a busy educational portfolio and is the Director of Manchester International Fellowship Scheme, a multi-speciality scheme and is also Associate Director of Medical Education for the Trust with remit of about 800 Locally Employed Doctors in the Trust.

He has specific interest in induction, supervision, support and career progression of overseas doctors and LEDs. He is regularly invited all over the UK to train Educational Supervisors in the field of ‘Supporting and Supervising International Doctors’.

He conceptualised and developed national online Induction for International Doctors that won multiple national awards for it’s UK-wide usefulness and applicability. He is one of the collaborators for the national guidance document ‘Welcoming and Valuing International Medical Graduates: A guide to induction for IMGs recruited to the NHS’ which was launched nationally in June 2022.

He is member of RCoA Equivalence committee and sits in the council of NACT-UK.
